CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

Anagold Madencilik is committed to undertaking its activities in a manner that encourages proactive and positive stakeholder engagement. Anagold Madencilik maintains constructive partnerships with the local communities and regional stakeholders surrounding Çöpler to ensure that activities which may impact them are carried out in a consultative and participatory manner. The Çöpler operation presents opportunities for communities surrounding the mine and the local communities are an important source of labor and local services for the mine.

Significant time and resources are devoted to building and maintaining connections with the key stakeholders to establish constructive and positive long-term relationships. A well-resourced community relations team on site is supported by dedicated senior staff located in the Ankara office. Within the framework of its social development program, Anagold Madencilik contributes to a wide range of programs in the local and regional communities. Some of the key recent activities carried out within the framework of Anagold Madencilik’s corporate social responsibility understanding include:

  • In 2012, Anagold Madencilik completed the relocation of the Çöpler village. 41 households were relocated to a newly built village approximately 1.5 km from the mine.
     
  • In 2013, Anagold Madencilik commenced the funding of a regional school in the nearby town of İliç. Construction started on April 15, 2013 and the school officially opened on May 6, 2016. Anagold Madencilik invested approximately $2.9 million (5.9 million Turkish Lira) in the project. The primary school has 16 classrooms and enrolls 480 students.
     
  • In 2016, Anagold Madencilik became an official sponsor of the region’s 24 Erzincanspor football team based out of Erzincan.
