Oxide Operations

Çöpler Mine Site is an open pit mine located in Eastern Anatolia, 8 km from the İliç district of Erzincan province, approximately 550 km east of Ankara.

Our Çöpler facility operated with a processing capacity of approximately 30,000 tons of oxide ore per day with three-stage crushing plants and parallel clayey ore feeding circuits.

Our facility, where the first gold casting was made on December 22, 2010 by recovering oxidized ore through the heap leach method, has decided to stop oxide operations in 2024.

The ore body of the Çöpler Mine Site also contains ore with a gold production sulphide structure. You can find more information about the processing of this ore under the heading Çöpler Sulphide Expansion Project.

Çakmaktepe Operations

In the Çakmaktepe Project, open pit operations were started after the preparation of the land in October 2018, and the oxidized ore extracted through mining activities carried out in the Eastern and Central open pits until the end of September 2019 was transported to the Çöpler Complex Mine for enrichment. Between 2020 and 2022, production activities were suspended at the project site and no ore was produced.

Operational activities resumed in October 2022 and ore production was carried out in Çakmaktepe Central and Eastern open pits until the end of March 2023, and production activities were suspended as of the end of March 2023 due to the depletion of ore reserves in the said pits.

Land preparations for the Northwest open pit activities identified within the scope of the Çakmaktepe second capacity increase project have been completed and operational activities have been started as of September 2023, and production activities are not currently carried out in the northwestern open pit area.
